Match Report
Sherborne Girls Girls-U15C vs  Dauntsey's School
On: Saturday, 15 Sep 2018
Venue: at Home

Our first match of the season and we had a squad of 15 players. We had been working on finding space and also running with the ball in the first few games sessions. Although we hadn't verbalised our aims as a team we hoping to work well together and get the ball to players in space and higher up the pitch. We started strongly in what looked like a very even contest. Every single one of our players were competing for the ball and we put some nice passages of play together when we passed to each other rather than running into their defenders. We took the lead through a opportunist strike and we then proceeded to try and push further up the pitch and pressurise our opponents. Our second goal came from a sweeping move, that included getting the ball high and wide and then a neat finish to put us further ahead. We rotated our players with the subs at regular intervals and also tried players in differing positions. Everyone "put a shift in" and I was very happy with the effort throughout the whole game. We started to tire in the second half, it was a warm day, and the game was becoming quite stretched. For periods of time we stopped passing to each other and hit balls into congested areas. Our goalkeeper made a number of good saves in the second half which then allowed us to push up the pitch on a few occasions, eventually forcing in a third goal to complete our tally. We didn't win any short corners, but we did defend a number of them. We have plenty to work on for the next match, but it was a great start to the season and I believe there will be some exciting games ahead.
