A fantastic start to the season for the 4th team in their first fixture against Bryanston. We focused on using the width and attacking down the right hand-side of the pitch. The girls took this onboard and were successful in creating goal scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, the forwards could not find the back of the net. At half- time we spoke about having composure on the ball in the D and a quick push or flick into the corner of the goal was more beneficial than a big swing. We started the second half determined to score some goals and began to position ourselves in triangles and pass the ball around Bryanston’s defense. Minna scored the first goal with a strong slap that deflected off the GK into the goal. The second goal came from Amelie off a short corner routine making the final result a 2-0 victory to Sherborne Girls.
All the girls demonstrated great commitment and worked their socks off as we only had one sub. Special mention to Phoebe who stepped in as a defender and did a fantastic job of tackling and clearing the ball out wide to avoid the opponents sticks. Tavie was awarded Player of the Match for her outstanding performance- well done !
