Sherborne Girls U18B Girls vs  Marlborough College
On: Saturday, 28 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

On Saturday, Sherborne Girls took 4 lacrosse teams to Marlborough College. Mercifully, the bad weather held off for most of the day and all matches were played in very good spirits.

Dominant throughout the entire match with regards to possession, our seconds were able to use their fitness, their pace and some fantastic long-distance passing in order to move the ball through the midfield and into attack extremely effectively. This lead to numerous ''fast-break'' scoring opportunities, as the opposing defence struggled to handle the uneven numbers faced when Sherborne transitioned upfield. Team Captain, Bella Snow, deserves mention here, as she took particular advantage of these opportunities and lead the charge with a number of extremely well-executed fast break goals.

Defensively, Sherborne truly shone with regards to their impeccable organisation and communication. The straight defensive unit of Lucy Maynard, Lauren Carty and Alice McCormick have been working during training on absorbing threats from drives (which are often the most common offensive manoeuvre seen at this level of play) and then recovering swiftly, and their new-found confidence in this area was very apparent as they shut Marlborough out with only 4 goals scored.

After 50 minutes of hard lacrosse, the final score line landed at 14-4 to Sherborne. Thank you very much to Marlborough College for a wonderful day of lacrosse. We look forward to the next encounter!
