Sherborne Girls U14A Girls vs  Millfield School
On: Saturday, 05 Oct 2019
Venue: at Home

The girls keep improving every week. The girls started from the whistle with fight and determination giving them the front foot from the beginning. They hassled and put pressure on the ball all over the pitch, giving the opposition no time to think. We had a number of chances to score with some great strikes at the edge of the circle missing the goal by a few centimetres. Unfortunately just before half time Millfield managed to get through our press and scored. The second half the girls struggled at times to find there rhythm turning over the ball with some loose passing and trying to go through the middle of the pitch. However, this didn't last long with a brilliant lead out wide from Sophie Flatt who carried the ball wide and played an awesome ball into the D where Charlotte Usher found the back of the net. The celebration after the goal was great, you could see it meant a lot to them and this spired them on more. They constantly hassled Millfields defence turning the ball over time and after time in Millfieds own half but we couldn't quite find the net. Two minutes before time the girls scored a goal but it was disallowed due to a foul in the D but a short corner was awarded. Unfortunately the girls were unable to score this short corner and the game finished 1-1.

It was a fantastic match to watch with the crowds getting involved cheering the girls on. Everyone expressed how impressed they are with them and how they are progressing well as a team. Great effort girls, you will have them next time! Player of the match was given to Sophie Flat for using the width when attacking. Well done all!
