Sherborne Girls 1st XI Girls vs  Bryanston School
On: Saturday, 28 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

SG had their first game of football against Bryanston with a large partisan crowd watching. The pitch and goal were much larger than our girls had experienced before but they soon settled into the game. The first half was played mainly in our half as Bryanston had a couple of good technical players who dominated play. However, credit to Anna Lisa, Harriet, Annabelle and Cayla who were resolute in their defending. Bryanston went ahead mid-way through the first half after a corner was not defended well. They increased their lead just before half time. At 2-0 down at the break the girls started the 2nd half with better possession. Nicole Appleby pulled one back with a one 30 yard shot that gave their goalkeeper no chance. The opposition added a third with a fierce shot from their best player and added a fourth a few minutes later. The girls never gave up with Mia, Bea, and Esme all looking to score as SG managed to put good passing patterns together. Molly in goal made some good saves which encouraged the team and with Ella-Rose making surging runs down the right and Kat down the left the opportunities for another goal were bound to come. Finally, Esme added a well-deserved 2nd gaol with just 5 minutes left. A slight offside call denied the opportunity for a third goal with the final whistle following just after. This was a brilliant performance for their first match. Amara, Ania, and Imo all displayed great attitude in playing in various positions.

This was a very positive experience for the girls which they will build upon. Well done to all and a big thank you to the travelling supporters.
