Sherborne Girls 1st XI Girls vs  Bryanston School
On: Saturday, 16 Nov 2019
Venue: Away

The return visit to Bryanston was to get for revenge for our previous result against them. However, it didn't start well when we conceded a penalty in the first minute. Debutant goalkeeper, Eve Messervy, got a hand to the kick but it wasn't enough to prevent the ball entering the goal. Not long after, Sherborne equalised with a great dribble and finish from Nicole Appleby. Spirits were up but it was not long before Bryanston's talented players took control of the game. We spent a lot of time defending but lapses of concentration allowed the home team to score two more in the first half. Sherborne did have some gilt edged chances to level with Gabriella Dobson, Amara Agwo, Alice Southcombe and Isobel Knight all having opportunities to score.

The second half saw some changes of players and positions with the girls battling hard to get back into the game. Messervy made an astonishing reflex save but was unable to prevent to rebound being scored. An unstoppable shot from their best player extended the lead and another was added soon after. We did have a second goal for a brief moment when Annabelle Kemp scored a very good goal but unfortunately she was offside in the build up and the goal was cancelled. However, our girls never gave up the fight and were a credit to themselves and the school. This was their second game ever and there are bound to be a lot of improvements that can make but their heart, fight and effort cannot be faulted. A special mention for Eve Messervy who has never played in goal before but has shown a lot of natural ability. She was undoubtedly our player of the game today.
