Sherborne Girls 1st XI Girls vs  Millfield School
On: Saturday, 17 Sep 2022
Venue: Away

Today we went to Millfield with some players who have never played a match before and came away with a 3 - 0 win! The growing group of senior girls who play football is now almost 40 and some of these younger girls were introduced today on the basis of how they have trained in the last two weeks.

In the first half we had the usual first team minus a few people due to exams coming up, Vicky Philips managed to score 2 amazing goals. Her first was a volley that screamed past the goalkeeper and the second was a guided shot into the far corner of the goal.. Anna Cleveland scored the other, using the skills that we have been practicing this week. She hit a ball that was rolling towards her with such power that the goalkeeper did not have time to move, Bea Walker was her usual skilful best in the centre of the pitch making good decisions with the ball

The he second half saw the introduction of players new to the game and they managed to keep the opposition at bay, with Tive Dlamini and Bobby Henderson having a brilliant game up front tormenting the Millfield defenders! Verity dePelet had a solid game in midfield in her first senior game. In midfield the U5 girls did themselves proud with Katy Crawford, Octavia Tennant and Emily Foss-Smith making good debuts. Our defence was very strong with Lily Phipps and Emily Nathalie Cheung making great challenges along Angel Wakayu. Poppy Evans was a clam influence in goal and dealt with any attacks that cam e her way.

This was a good team performance and a good foundation to build upon.

Well done all
