Sporting Highlights week ending 1 March

Wednesday and Thursday this week saw 16 of our hockey players travel to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London to play in the Investec England Hockey Plate finals. On the first day, we were out played in our match against Queens Schools, Chester who were the ultimate champions but went onto have a fantastically close fought game against Oundle on the second day. We scored an early goal and then had the spectators on the edge of their seats as Oundle levelled with us at 1-1. The final score was a 2-1 win to Oundle but the girls loved every minute of the experience and were great ambassadors for this school at this amazing venue.

Following the conclusion of the Somerset and Dorset ASA County Swimming Championships held over 3 weekends in January and February now is the perfect opportunity to congratulate the following girls on their achievements. Harriet Watts, Penelope Aggett and Cerys Groves competed Long Course at Millfield in the Somerset Championships whilst Angelina Bonelli-Bean and Erin Cassingham swam Short Course at Littledown, Poole, Dorset. As a Championship these are run as a Level 2 meet and as such have very tough qualifying times. Penelope swimming in her first county championships on the back of some excellent training over the past 6 months gained 3 good personal bests (pb) in 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly and 100m Backstroke, with Erin also gaining a pb in the 200m individual Medley.
