Sporting Highlights week ending 4 October

Sports Bulletin

This week we have had a string of successes to celebrate starting with a win last Thursday for our 1st XI hockey team against Kings Bruton in the U19 Independent Schools Cup, followed by a second win against Prior Park College in the first round of the England Hockey National Cup yesterday.

Our Equestrian team consisting of Matilda, Eliza, Izzy and Emily fought off stiff competition from 20 other schools to be placed 2nd in the 90cm class of the Godolphin School NSEA event at Sparsholt. This means that the Equestrian team have now qualified for the NSEA Show Jumping Championships at half term. A particular mention goes to Matilda for coming 2nd in the individual placings in the 90 cm class at Sparsholt.

Last Saturday, we took 4 lacrosse teams to Marlborough College. Mercifully, the bad weather held off for most of the day and Sherborne Girls showed were able to show off their prowess on the lacrosse field coming away with a clean sweep of wins. Our hockey teams faired less well but felt a real sense of achievement having played some high-class hockey with a commendable level of spirit and determination.

The U16A netball team competed in the North Dorset Area tournament yesterday and have qualified for the next round of this national competition.

Well done to all our girls who have been representing the school in these highly competitive competitions and fixtures.
