Thank you to Bryanston School who provided us with an enjoyable hockey block fixture last weekend. The girls are beginning to gain confidence in their ability and of the 9 teams that played, 7 came away with a positive score line. The 1st XI had a particularly successful afternoon feeling buoyed after a very positive display against Taunton School in the 1st round of the Independent School Cup. On Thursday they had a second encounter with Taunton School in the National Cup 1st round and whilst there were some outstanding performances, notably from Finty, Sophie and Captain Tara, the team were unable to secure the much needed win to take them into the next round of this competition.

The U18 A lacrosse team played away at Exeter University which is an exciting new addition to the fixtures programme. Playing against the university’s 3rd team they had a very close score line for the entire match with Holly, who had defended brilliantly throughout the whole match, saving the day (7-6) in the dying seconds with a flying interception. Rania was the opposition player of the match, an excellent achievement for an U5 player!

Our youngest players had a fun hockey sevens fixture against Leweston School on Wednesday whilst the remainder of our top performing athletes and scholars, along with their coaches, attend the ‘Sport in Her Shoes’ conference. Kitty, one of our very talented players, summed up her experience of the conference in a thoughtful email “a big thank you for organising/hosting the ‘Sport in Her Shoes’ conference for us today, it was really interesting to hear the women speak about topics that I didn’t know much about before – I definitely learnt a lot! I spoke to friends who also attended and we all feel that as sports players, it’s good to know that we are so well supported by our coaches and mentors at SG.”
