Sports Highlights
The equestrian team were in action over the exeat weekend participating in an NSEA event hosted at Blundell’s School. We were delighted with Bea’s 2nd place finish in the 80cm class, Thalia achieved a respectable 12th place with a double clear on the XC and SJ, Clemmie came 7th in the 90cm class, and Isla had a personal best in the Dressage and finished 2nd overall in the 90 cm class. Well done girls!
Tuesday evening saw a thrilling game for the U18 hockey cup team who were playing the second round of the National Cup competition against Godolphin School. Godolphin started the game very strongly by scoring 2 goals in quick succession. However, we made a solid comeback with some fantastic runs from Coco S, Cora and Selene upfront which resulted in a team goal from a short corner and a great deflection from Ella. The whole team put in a solid shift which led to an amazing overhead defection from Selene and a nice reverse hit from Emma, which put us in a comfortable lead and we entered half-time with the score at 4-4. In the second half, our intensity dropped allowing Godolphin to take the lead at 5-4, however, a great run from Coco H allowed Emma to do a cracking hit to score the equalising goal. We finished the game in a tie (5-5) and then the game went down to penalty flicks. The team were a terrific support to one another and put up a great fight but sadly we had to concede victory to Godolphin with a 4-3 finish on penalties.
