The senior lacrosse teams played away on Saturday in the Southwest Rally where they had a line up of 3 matches against Godolphin, Queen Anne’s and St George’s Ascot. They started the day with a strong win and after the first round found themselves in the Championship pool. Although that meant they were faced with some tough opposition, their positivity and enthusiasm didn't waiver. A defensively strong performance saw the team frustrate the opposition on numerous occasions and although they didn’t leave the tournament in podium position, they gained huge cohesion as a team.

On Sunday Clemmie, Isla and Bea travelled to Calmsden for the prestigious Schools Equestrian Games Championships along with teams from 35 other qualifying schools. Horses Jerry, Inca and Merlin were all beautifully behaved and despite only being a team of three, Sherborne Girls managed to achieve a bronze place finish on the podium in the 90cm class, a great achievement! Emily and her lovely horse Timmy also represented Sherborne Girls in the 100cm class and posted a fantastic dressage score of 26.

After a tough hockey fixture against Millfield last weekend, the girls came back fighting and the U14A team in particular put in a great performance on Monday in their game against Bryanston. Defensively the girls were brilliant , the forwards put pressure high up the pitch and the midfield and defenders front marked their players making it hard for Bryanston to get the ball out of the half. Our Westies were also playing Bryanston Knighton House mid-week and came away with some very pleasing results. Scarlett, who was playing in goal for the U13A team, had an amazing match. She made some fantastic saves and kept the girls in the game with a variety of different saves, showing real courage in coming out of the goal and tackling the attacker.

A real mid-week highlight was the U19 North Dorset netball tournament. Looking fabulous in their new netball dresses, the team were determined to put in a good performance and fought for every ball and every intercept. Following some superb wins they join the U16 netball team in qualifying for the Dorset County championships. Special mention goes to Emma for her hold work around the circle and Issy's tireless work through attack.

Thursday saw the cross-country squad in action for the first time this year. This committed group of girls train year round, on and off the track, and it was hugely rewarding to see them racing and excelling in a hugely competitive environment again some of the biggest and best schools in Dorset and Wiltshire. The junior team put in a gutsy performance and finished in 4th position, the intermediate team placed 3rd and the senior team placed 1st. Both the intermediate and senior team have qualified for a place in the Southwest regional round of this national competition.
